Strip method of hair transplantation (Strip) (also. FUT) – a classic in hair transplantation. One of the most used and inexpensive methods in plastic surgery.

It is based on removing part of the skin with hair follicles from the back of the head and then dividing it into grafts. Depending on the patient’s wishes and the doctor’s recommendations, the transplant area and the previous number of grafts are determined.

The strip method can obtain up to 2,000 grafts per operation, and even more. Hair transplantation by the Strip method is used for androgenic alopecia in stages from II to VI according to Norwood.

The course of the hair transplant procedure using the patchwork method

Local anesthesia is used for the hair transplant procedure.

Trichologist-transplantologist and assistants prepare the donor area. In the area of the donor zone, a skin flap is isolated. Next, the transplant surgeon sutures the wound with cosmetic sutures with absorbable threads that do not require removal.

The place of extraction of the flap is closed with a special cosmetic suture, which over time becomes almost invisible, even with a short haircut. After the operation on the back of the head remains a scar in the form of a strip, which after a few months becomes invisible under the hair length of 1 cm or more.

Division of the flap into follicular connections and implantation of grafts is performed. Specialists process the donor material using stereo microscopes, from which the grafts containing from 1 to 4-5 hairs are extracted.

At the last stage of hair transplantation the micro-holes are filled with grafts: at the same time assistants using special micro-tools insert grafts into the micro-holes.

After hair transplantation, there are no visible marks on the back of the head – the suture is hidden under the hair.

After the Strip method hair transplant

After the procedure, you will receive a kit with detailed recommendations on how to behave for 14 days after the procedure, as well as all the necessary care.
You can also read the recommendations on our website.

On the first evening after the operation, it is desirable that the patient rests. For sleep, such a posture should be chosen, in which the area of transplanted hair should not touch anything. Accidental trauma should be avoided.

In the postoperative period, some patients may experience painful sensations.

Dissolution of the suture thread in the occipital part of the head occurs from the 14th day on its own. During this period, hair loss from the transplanted bulbs also begins, which is a common phenomenon.

Physical activity is allowed only 10-14 days after surgery to avoid increased blood circulation in the head area, as well as stretching of the suture during the period of resorption of the thread.

Hair growth from the transplanted grafts begins in the 2nd month and may be accompanied by skin irritation, which as the hair sprouts without trace. The suture becomes virtually invisible from the 8th month until the hair has fully sprouted.

The first hair that grows from the transplanted grafts is curlier and less combable than normal. However, after a few cuts, the structure of the hair recovers and becomes the same as on the scalp sections. A year after the procedure, all of these differences disappear.

The cost of the hair transplant procedure includes:
